After researching the separation technology employed by many anaerobic digestion plants across continental Europe, the directors of GWE Biogas selected Bellmer Kufferath Machinery to provide the de-packaging equipment for the Sandhill facility. Bellmer Kufferath Machinery develops, designs, manufactures and installs machines and systems for dewatering in several process areas. In… Read More »
With the construction of the first digester and associated tanks almost complete, as shown in the picture below, GWE are preparing for construction to begin on the second digester. When complete, the second digester will give the plant a total processing capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum.
The Sandhill biogas plant was designed, together with the Directors, by Natural Engineering Solutions (NES) GmbH of Gladbeck, Germany. NES is a joint venture between the directors of GWE Biogas and former engineers of Hese Biogas GmbH. After designing, constructing and comissioning many plants across Europe, the future of Hese Biogas became questionable… Read More »
As Easter approaches, the first of the digestor tanks is finished. The first ring of the dual purpose tank can also be seen in the bottom left hand corner.
After the initial groundwork was laid, construction began immediately on the new buildings that will house the Anaerobic Digestion processing centre. Here is how the site looks as of March 2010.
Every year, both in the UK and around the World, many millions of tonnes of biomass wastes are produced that need to be disposed off. Due to their high water contents, biomass wastes are not suitable for disposal in thermal based facilities, such as incinerators, that require feedstocks with low… Read More »
GWE Biogas can assist Local Disposal Authorities in meeting their landfill diversion targets, if they are employing source segregation and are collecting food separately from other wastes. Whilst there might be an expectation that our service will only be of interest to local authorities within a close proximity to the… Read More »
Anaerobic Digestion systems come in many different shapes and sizes, with the form that a plant takes being determined by the type of system that is employed. The paragraphs below describe the different types and how they relate to the plant that GWE Biogas use at the Sandhill site.
